1852 - 1900

Birth of the LOUIS FOUQUET Establishments

In 1852, in the busy streets of Paris, Louis Fouquet, a man passionate about the art of jam and confectionery, opened the doors of his shop.

Located in the heart of the 9th arrondissement of Paris, its small store is quickly becoming an essential destination for gourmets in search of exquisite flavors.

Claude Monet, who loves fondants and violet candies, is one of the very first customers.

1900 - 1920

The start of a family adventure

The Chambeau-Mimard family took over the House at the beginning of the century.

To the professions of jam maker and confectioner she adds that of chocolatier. The range of products extends and the store becomes a tea room.

Gertrude Stein then comes to reflect on her purchases for Matisse or Picasso over a honey cake. (CF: Autobiography of Alice Toklas)

1920 - 1950

The Roaring Twenties

The eldest of the family, Alfred Chambeau, then managed LOUIS FOUQUET.

The brand is experiencing rapid development. The store at 22, rue François 1er was opened in 1928 even before the advent of the Golden Triangle.

It was at this time that the iconic Salvators were born which still make the house famous today.

The opening of two stores on avenue de Messine and avenue de la Bourdonnais followed in the 1930s.

1950 - 1980

The rise of the brand

Monique Chambeau or rather “Mademoiselle Fouquet” took advantage of the whirlwind of the 1960s to establish the reputation of the house in the fields of chocolate, confectionery, and delicatessens.

Renamed FOUQUET, the house became a brand synonymous with perfection and prestige. Christian Dior, Yves Saint Laurent and other big names in fashion love our treats.

1980 - 2000

Between tradition and innovation

Christophe Chambeau, grandson of Alfred and nephew of Monique, takes charge of FOUQUET's destiny.

He modernized the production tool by expanding the workshops on rue Laffitte, enriched the range of chocolates and extended the brand's notoriety abroad.

2000 - …

The 5th generation

Catherine Chambeau and her brother Frédéric are developing the brand beyond our borders: Tokyo, Seoul and even New York.

Today, it is above all in France that Catherine wishes to promote the House.

In 2023, she imagines a new identity that draws on the roots of the House and renames it LOUIS FOUQUET in homage to the eponymous establishments of the 1852s, while piloting the opening of new Parisian boutiques.
